Luke 24
Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Par ▾
1But on Sunday morning, while it was dark, they came to the tomb and they brought the spices that they had prepared, and there were other women with them. 2And they found the stone which had been rolled from the tomb. 3And they entered and they did not find the body of Yeshua. 4And it happened that while these wondered at this, behold, two men stood above them and their clothing was shining. 5And they were in fear and they bowed their faces to the ground, and they were saying to them, “Why are you seeking The Life among the dead? 6He is not here; he is risen. Remember when he spoke with you as he was in Galilee, 7And he said, 'The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and he shall be crucified and the third day he shall arise?' “ 8And these remembered his words. 9And they returned from the tomb and they were telling all these things to the eleven and to the rest. 10And they were Maryam Magdalitha and Johanna and Maryam the mother of Yaqob, and the rest who were with them, who told these things to the Apostles. 11And these words appeared as insanity in their eyes and they did not believe them. 12But Shimeon arose and he ran to the tomb, and beholding, he saw the linen that was placed by itself and he left wondering in his soul over what had happened.

13And behold, two of them that day were going to the village whose name is Emmaus, and it is sixty furlongs from Jerusalem. 14And they were speaking with one another about all these things that had occurred. 15And while they were talking and inquiring one with another, Yeshua came and he met them and he was walking with them. 16And their eyes had been held shut lest they would recognize him. 17And he said to them, “What are these matters of which you speak, one with another, as you are walking and are gloomy?” 18One of them answered, whose name was Cleopa, and he said to him, “Are you indeed a foreigner by yourself in Jerusalem that you do not know the thing that has occurred in it in these days?” 19He said to them, “What thing?” They were saying to him, “Concerning Yeshua, who was from Nazareth, a man who was The Prophet mighty in word and in deed before God, and before the whole nation. 20And the Chief Priests and the Elders delivered him to the sentence of death, and they crucified him. 21But we had been hoping that he was going to deliver Israel and behold, it is the third day now, since all these things occurred. 22But also women among us stupefied us, for they had gone first to the tomb. 23And when they did not find his body, they came and they were telling us, 'We saw Angels there', and they were saying of him, 'He is alive.' 24Also, some from us went to the tomb and they found according to what the women said, but they did not see him.”

25Then Yeshua said to them, “Oh deficient of mind and slow of heart to believe in all the things that The Prophets have spoken! 26Was it not necessary for The Messiah to endure these things and to enter into his glory?” 27And he began from Moses and from all The Prophets and he expounded to them about himself from all of the scriptures.

28And they arrived at that village to which they were going, and he was announcing to them how he was going to a distant place. 29And they constrained him and they were saying to him, “Stay with us, because the day is declining and it is becoming dark”, and he entered to stay with them. 30And it happened that when he reclined with them, he took bread and he blessed, and he broke and he gave to them. 31At once their eyes were opened and they recognized him and he ascended from them. 32And they were saying one to another, “Was not our heart dull within us when he was speaking with us on the road and expounding to us the scriptures?” 33And they arose in that hour, and they returned to Jerusalem, and they found the eleven assembled and those who were with them, 34As they were saying, “Truly our Lord has risen and he has appeared to Shimeon!” 35They also related those things that had occurred on the road and how he was known to them when he broke the bread.

36And when they were speaking these things, Yeshua stood in their midst and he said to them, “Peace be with you; I AM THE LIVING GOD, be not afraid.” 37And they were alarmed and were in terror, for they thought that they were seeing a ghost. 38And Yeshua said to them, “Why are you shaken, and why do imaginations arise in your hearts?” 39“See my hands and my feet, that it is I; touch me and know that a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.” 40And when he had said these things, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41Even until this moment they did not believe because of their joy, and they were awe-stricken. He said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42So they gave him a piece of roasted fish and some honeycomb. 43And he took and he ate in their sight.

44And he said to them, “These are the words that I spoke with you when I was with you, that everything that is written about me in The Law of Moses and in The Prophets and in The Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45Then he opened their mind to understand the scriptures. 46And he said to them, “Thus it is written: and thus it was right for The Messiah to suffer and to arise from the grave the third day, 47And that conversion to the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name in all the nations, and the beginning would be at Jerusalem. 48And you are witnesses of these things. 49And I shall send upon you The Promise of my Father; but you stay in the city of Jerusalem until you shall be clothed in power from on high.”

50And he brought them unto Bethany and he lifted his hands and he blessed them. 51And it was that as he blessed them, he was separated from them, and he ascended to Heaven. 52But they worshiped him and they returned to Jerusalem in great joy. 53And they were in The Temple at all times, praising and blessing God. Amen.
